I don’t know if Haley knew my word for 2025 was PEACE when she dropped off a gift on Christmas Eve. I opened the gift & it was a beautiful handcrafted dove , the symbol of peace.   The tag said “The Dove is a beautiful, year-round reminder of the hope that remains no matter how turbulent the storm.” You see, my family & I went through a very turbulent storm last year. But as I surrendered the trial to God, He gave me peace.  Gods Word says,  “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 I found that to be true. As I prepare for 2026, my word for the new year is TWIRL . The second week of December I have heard several people including myself say that life feels heavy. It’s the holiday season and everywhere we look there are reminders of what others are doing to celebrate this season or what marketers want you to buy for your loved ones.  It’s the season for winter blues or seasonal depression for those who suffer from that. Just when I think I’ve beat it, it rears its ugly head again with a heaviness that makes you tired and unhappy-a battle fought in your own mind and body.  It’s also the time of year when grief can hit hard. Celebrating the holidays when you’ve lost a loved one is not the same. You may feel wrong or guilty for celebrating without them or you may not feel like celebrating at all. What is a “Happy Holiday” for some is a trigger for grief and pain that makes you feel like you want to be left alone.   Dysfunctional families can create chaos, guilt and shame during this time of year.   Truth divides male and female, right from     wrong. Good from evil.   The sword of the spirit is the word of God dividing bone from marrow. Division is good -light from darkness , sea from land, sky from grass. You have to have division to have clarity.  Truth offends.  Look at John the Baptist …He was a voice crying in the wilderness , eating bugs and wearing animal skin-probably not fitting in with society. Yet he cried, “Prepare the way for the Lord!” Look at Jesus. “For the Joy set before him he endured the cross scorning its shame…” Look at Hebrews 11 and other parts of the world where believers are being killed for their faith in Christ. Truth brings a sword. Truth separates families at times. The truth in God‘s Word separates true Christians from the world. Which side of the truth are you on?  Jesus says He is the way, the Truth and the life.  Repent, the Kingdom of God is at hand.
