Word for the New Year

I don’t know if Haley knew my word for 2025 was PEACE when she dropped off a gift on Christmas Eve. I opened the gift & it was a beautiful handcrafted dove, the symbol of peace.

The tag said “The Dove is a beautiful, year-round reminder of the hope that remains no matter how turbulent the storm.”

You see, my family & I went through a very turbulent storm last year. But as I surrendered the trial to God, He gave me peace.

Gods Word says,  “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

I found that to be true.

As I prepare for 2026, my word for the new year is TWIRL. Inspired by reading Freely & Lightly by Emily Lex

On the way to visit family for Christmas, we passed a cute store on the road we used to live on and I asked my husband if he could stop so I could just run in real quick.

He reluctantly pulled over and parked and let me get out to go “look.”

You’ll never guess what I saw! My word for the new year on a book sitting up on a stand just waiting for me to walk by it. TWIRL, a children’s book that I didn’t even know Emily Lex had written.

I instantly smiled and picked it up to flip through. I didn’t buy it but I basically read it right there in the store & felt totally seen by God.

As a little girl twirls in her dress, desiring to be seen, loved & valued by her father & then by the world, she will eventually get disheartened unless she realizes her Heavenly Father who created her, loves her, adores her & “rejoices over her with singing” (Zephaniah 3:17).

When we are confident in who we are in Christ, we can be free to dance for Him, serve Him, worship Him and take delight in His presence.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

Now let’s get to twirling!
