Homeless





John and I are in our early to mid forties & at this time we do not own a home or a camper or land or a condo somewhere. In the past we had bought & sold three different homes. Being in the ministry and surrendered to the Holy Spirit we said we would go where God led. Over the past twenty plus years that has meant moving a lot. 

I have seen this bible verse come to life in our lives. “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the Gospel will fail to receive 100 times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions— and in the age to come eternal life.” (Mark 10:29-30 NIV)

We surrendered our homes and many possessions and God has given us back “homes and lands with persecutions” through God’s people allowing us to use their lake house or pond house etc for getaways. 

God’s Word is true. And it’s an adventure!

We had to make an unexpected trip to Georgia last weekend because my husbands grandmother died.  She was 87 years old.  Her name was Elizabeth Mason.  She lived with my husbands parents for the last 10 months of her life.  Before that she lived in an assisted living home.  I can't imagine what it must be like to grow old.   Today is my birthday and I am only 29...however, all week I have been freaking out about being almost 30!  Then I remind myself that that is NOT old at all, right? ;) I was wondering today how people grow old with grace.  You meet people who grow old and never complain about it.  They are a joy to be around and full of wisdom.  Growing old must be difficult because there are so many changes in every way.  The way you look and feel and sometimes where you live even changes.  I can't imagine having to leave the house that you called home year after year.  And being dependent on other people to help y...

College or not? Homeschooling or not?

It’s that time of year. Kids are going back to school. We have four sons and the oldest one graduated high school last May. My husband and I attended public school growing up. I remember thinking that people who homeschooled were weird. For some reason, when our oldest was a toddler we decided to try out homeschooling. We wanted to be with our children and teach them a biblical worldview .  We quickly multiplied and had our older three sons two and a half years apart. My husband traveled and preached a lot during those years and we wanted to be together as a family so we continued to homeschool the boys. We joined different coops that had some great aspects to them & we were able to make friends with like minded people. One coop even put on a huge production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang . Sugar

Many people made new years resolutions last month that revolve around weight loss, health, and nutrition.  Whether we are trying to lose weight or not we should ALL be concerned with our health.  I used to eat sooooo much white sugar and junk food.  I was not gaining weight because I exercised a lot so I kept eating it.  I did not realize the damage it was doing to my overall health until years later . White sugar is in almost everything these days in some form or another.  High fructose corn syrup, the first ingredient in most processed food, is even worse than sugar.  It poisons your body and damages your health.  I know you are thinking, "How can I live without sugar or processed food!?"  I used to think that way.
