Marriage Tip
My husband and I have been married almost 8 years and have 3 kids. Several people have shared with us that a married couple should get away overnight (just the husband and wife) at least once a year. We went on our first 'getaway' last week and it was wonderful! We left the kids with their grandparents and I did not worry about them at all (although my husband called them 5 times the first afternoon!)
The reason we had not gone on an overnight trip in the past is because I was always nursing a baby who would not take a bottle. Then we didn't ever seem to have extra money to spend on an overnight date. We did not place it as a priority in our time or our budget. However, I would encourage you to talk to your spouse about placing this as a priority in order to have a wonderful marriage. As time goes by and you have more kids and go on less dates you NEED extra time together. You need to remember how to connect and communicate and laugh and flirt and play and have intimacy with no kids around to distract or take the attention off of eachother. One day you will have an empty nest with just the two of you and you will be glad you still enjoy your spouse:)
