How I stay a size 3 after 3 kids

OK, sometimes it’s a size 4-6, just depends on where I buy my clothes at. Don’t you love that commercial where the ladies are getting measured for jeans and there are no sizes except “Confident”, “Strong”, etc.? The size really DOES NOT MATTER, but your health does. Are you healthy? Do you have energy to play with your kids? Do you have energy to cook healthy meals for your family? (Eating healthy requires more cooking time…unless you live off salads and smoothies I guess). Do you want to live a long life and be able to travel and play with your grand kids? Do you want to feel confident and beautiful?

I’m going to share with you what I have done over the past 8 years to maintain a healthy weight after having 3 kids. My kids are 8, 6, and 4 by the way. :)
I do not diet. I have never dieted. I actually ate really unhealthy all my life except for the past 8 years. When my son was born it made me think about what kind of food I was going to put into his precious body. I breastfed all 3 of my babies. That is the healthiest thing you can give them. Breastfeeding is God’s natural way of helping you lose that baby weight!

As I became an avid health researcher I learned that eating whole foods was the best way to go. I also learned that white sugar and white flour are really bad for you. And they are in about everything! I began grinding my own natural whole grains into flour and baking all of our own bread, pizza dough, pancakes, and cinnamon rolls from scratch. I stopped baking bread after my 3rd child because he is a handful and I don’t have the time, honestly.
And let me just say here that I did not know how to cook until I got married (10 years ago) and I taught myself how to bake and cook from scratch. You can do it! Just find good recipes and follow them!
I also quit using sugar and used sucanat (Natural Sugar Cane, it looks like brown granules) and honey. I started drinking only water and herbal tea with honey. Now I use Sweetleaf Stevia to sweeten my tea, smoothies and Oily Weightloss Healthy Water (This is amazing, I will tell you in a minute).

When we ate out at restaurants I chose healthier meals and quit ordering dessert. Now, I also take my healthy oily water with me when we eat out.
I became aware that I was sensitive to dairy and gluten. So I avoid dairy, gluten, and sugar. Keep in mind, I used to be addicted to sugar and white flour products. I lived on muffins and pancakes! But I was also sick all the time, tired all the time, had acne all the time, was on medicine all the time, was constipated (sorry, TMI) and had to eat every 2 hours. Not fun.

I bought me some really good cookbooks with healthy recipes in them to get me started on this new way of eating. I have figured out how to make healthy desserts, gluten free, dairy free desserts and more. I did not change all of this in one day. Healthy eating and living is a choice. It is hard sometimes to eat this way, but I have gotten used to it and I love the benefits!
One thing I do now is drink my oily water daily. I use a Big Berkey water filter and put water in a glass water bottle, glass cup or mason jar. I add 1 packet of Sweetleaf Stevia and 2-6 drops of Young Living Citrus Fresh Oil (or Orange, Grapefruit, Tangerine or Lime..whatever you like). Stir it up and drink that fat away. These citrus oils, especially grapefruit oil DISSOLVE FAT. They actually digest it! I have seen women lose weight by drinking this, and I actually went down a pants size since drinking it. I wasn’t evern trying to lose weight! I was just drinking it because it tastes so good and it is so healthy for you! (Order at with this Member #1288141)

Since my last child was born I have not even been exercising regularly. Growing up and into my 20′s I did exercise on a regular basis, so that gave me a good foundation. Now I will wear my shape up shoes around the house. I hardly ever sit down during the day because I home school 3 active boys. I always find ways to move, whether its dancing while I’m cooking or doing push ups or squats while watching the Pioneer Woman. Just move.
So, that’s about it. Don’t starve yourself. Don’t diet. Don’t try to have someone else’s body shape. We are all created with different body shapes, but we are all fearfully and wonderfully made. Read Psalm 139:)

November Specials

Hey y'all!  I hope you are enjoying the pretty leaves like I am.  I love fall and everything that goes with it.  I love the pumpkins, the squash, the apple cider and cinnamon pumpkin spices in everything.  I like to drink hot herbal tea this time of year and put either peppermint, cinnamon, nutmeg, bergamot or orange oil in it.

I wanted to let you in on the Young Living specials for November.  I am enjoying all my free oils from last months special!

The first one is Christmas Spirit oil: This oil blend contains prange, cinnamon bark and spruce oils.  Spruce is superb for the lungs.  You can even use it as a suppository for lung issues that you are ready to get rid of.  Spruce is also good emotionally for grounding and balance.  It is used in the popular blend Valor.

The second one is Ginger oil:   This one is great for traveling, especially if you are prone to getting carsick or nauseous.  Are you traveling for the holidays coming up?  You may want ginger:)  Ginger is in the popular blend Digize for digestion.  This is antitumoral, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiflagulent (blood thinner).  If you are on blood thinners or aspirin then do not take much of this oil.

The third special is Thyromin.  This helps your thyroid which helps your energy, regulates your body temperature, metabolism, and balances hormones.  This supplement nourishes the thyroid with minerals and vitamins.  You can take it in the morning to help your adrenals and take it at night to help your thyroid.  Consider this supplement if you are tired all the time, have dry skin, or thinning hair.  Founder and Dr. Gary Young says that taking Super C, Melrose, Longevity and Thyromin together creates a synergistic effect on the hormones and immune system.  Thyromin helps if you have been exposed to radiation.

What makes a godly woman?

My husband preached tonight on the qualities of a godly woman, so I thought I would share.  A godly woman is:

1. A good manager (Proverbs 31:11, Luke 8:3)  Be a good manager of your time and your money.  Manage your money so well that your husband will not worry that you will spend all the money he has made.  You have the freedom to be industrious and make money and manage it well for the betterment  of your family.

2. A positive influence (Proverbs 31:12, 14:1)  Be the thermostat of the room and determine the atmosphere of your home or your workplace.  Women have great influence.  Have you ever heard the saying, "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."?

3. Diligent in her purpose (Acts 16:14-15)  Don't be lazy OR be a busybody.  Work with a purpose and a plan.  The woman in Proverbs considered a field and bought it.  She had a plan.

4. Prepared and equipped for every task (Proverbs 31:17)  Take care of your body and your health so you can take care of those you love.  Eat healthy and get enough sleep and rest so you can do this.

5. Confident in her gifts and abilities (Proverbs 31:18)  "She perceiveth that her merchandise is good.."  Use your gifts to the glory of God!

6. She is sacrificial (Proverbs 31:20)  "She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy."  Women have hearts of compassion, love, and that desire to nurture and care for others.  We must sacrifice our bodies to months of pregnancy and childbirth, nursing and caring for babies.  We sacrifice sleep and leisure time to do all that is required to feed, clothe and care for our family and home.  God sees all this.  He knows what it is to sacrifice His One and only Son for us.

7. She is honorable in her words and behavior (Judges 4:6-9)  Honor the Word of God if you want to be honorable.

8.  She is wise and kind (Proverbs 31:26)  Every time you open your mouth does wisdom come out?  Do you speak with kindness or sarcasm?

This message was convicting and uplifting at the same time.  I have a lot I need to work on, but I am encouraged that God gave women such great influence.  God created women and He knows how we feel and where we struggle.  He knows our inmost being.  When your husband cannot understand you, God can.  We have a choice to make each day.  Will we choose to manage our money and time well?  Will we choose to be positive and diligent?  Will we choose to be prepared and confident?  Will we choose to be sacrificial or selfish?  Will we choose to be wise and kind or harsh and critical?

When we choose the latter it always comes with emptiness and guilt.  When we choose to refresh others we end up being refreshed.  There is fullness in loving and giving and serving.  Choose to live an honorable life unto the Lord!  Don't let others determine your mood or your day or your life.  Be the best you can be to the glory of God!

Anger and cabbage boiling over

Tonight I was cleaning up after supper while listening to a good sermon on the radio.  After it went off the house was quiet and I was scraping off the stove top where water had boiled over.  I thought to myself what a hard job it was to clean the stove top just because water boiled over while I was cooking cabbage.  When the water hit the hot stove top it turned black.  I was able to clean it all off, but I thought about how much easier it would have been if I would have never let the cabbage boil over.

Same thing with my anger.  Earlier that night I had envisioned a nice family time together with rest afterward.  However, things didn't go as planned.  I became ill because I was hungry and tired...not a good combination.  I let my anger boil over onto my husband and I spewed at him with hot words.  I made myself a mess to clean up.  I "burnt" him just like the boiling water burned the stove top.  I had to go back and humbly apologize to him and ask for his forgiveness.

I could have prevented the mess if I would have eaten me a little snack, sat down to rest a minute and prayed.  I could have prevented the water boiling over if I would have taken some of the water out of the pot.

Sometimes life gets too full and too busy and our pots are so full that we easily boil over.

The Bible says in Ephesians 4:26, "In your anger do not sin".

Take some time this week to empty your pot.  Maybe take a walk, read a good book, pray, journal, or go out with friends.

Ask God to help you not explode in anger.

By the way, the cabbage turned out good:)

October Specials

Happy Fall!

I hope you are all well!  If you're not, don't hesitate to ask me how to use your oils to make you well:)
The three free oils for October are Cinnamon Bark, Orange and Nutmeg.
Cinnamon Bark: This smells good, tastes good and is SO GOOD for you! You can put 1 drop in whipped cream on top of your pumpkin pie or hot cocoa.  Try adding it to banana bread.  Make your own Ninxia Red slushy with 1 drop of cinnamon oil in 1/2 cup of slushy.  You can diffuse this to smell like Fall and help with colds.  This oil is in Thieves, Abundance, Christmas Spirit and Exodus 2.  Cinnamon oil inhibits the growth of toxins which could lead to liver cancer.  It's anti-inflammatory.  It helps fight e coli, listeria, salmonella which are food poisoning.  It helps inhibit the molds in peanuts and other foods.  It is very preventative for your stomach lining.  It's antiviral (hepatitis) and helps circulation.  It eliminates intestinal parasites.  It does all this while tasting good!
Nutmeg: I love cooking with nutmeg but never realized the tremendous health benefits of the oil til recently.  You can stick a toothpick in the oil and swirl it in your marinara sauce for an antiviral boost.  1 drop would be too strong:)  This oil supports the endocrine system (thyroid, adrenals) it is in Endoflex and Energee blends.  You can use topically over adrenals for adrenal fatigue or over thyroid, diffuse or take internally.  This is a warm oil.  It is antibacterial, protects liver, helps gastric damage like ulcers, muscle relaxant, increases melatonin for deep sleep, anti inflammatory, antibacterial, effective against fungus.
Orange: I drink Orange oil everyday!  It is calming and uplifting for the mind and body.  You can diffuse it, smell it or drink it..or rub it on your wrists (just don't go in the sun with orange oil on, or put it where the sun won't see it, like over your liver).  You can add this to water or Slique tea for weight loss.  Diffuse it with Idaho Balsam Fir for stress reduction.  Orange oil is 90% D limonene.  It boosts immunity, helps depression, combats TUMOR GROWTH, helps kill stomach cancer cells and protects cells in the body.  May prevent liver cancer..chemo prevention.  Add 8 drops over your liver for a great boost of immunity.

If you don't think you can spend 190 PV to get the free oils, ask your friends if they want to try an oil and buy it for them or buy your oily Christmas gifts to gain points and freebies along the way.  NOW is the time to stock up with all this sickness going need to be prepared to keep your family healthy and boost their immune systems.

I would suggest stocking up on Thieves Oil, Thieves hand sanitizer, Digize or Ginger Oil for tummy bugs/nausea, Citrus Oils for weight loss and Vitamin C, ImmuPro for Immune system, RC, Raven, or Eucalyptus for coughs and Peppermint and Lavender oil for everything
 else!

Check out my new website (still working on it) and send your friends there if they are interested in health and wellness with YL Essential Oils.

Do I Love?

"We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren.  He that loveth not his brother abideth in death."  1 John 3:14

I read this in my devotion today and it convicted me.  Because the other day I was so stressed out, my 3 boys had fought ALL day long it seemed and I was getting nothing done.  We were unkind to one another (on the way to VBS of course) and I had the thought, "I just don't like anyone right now."  I just wanted to be all by myself and have a pity party.  So, that's not really "loving my brother".

What does it mean to love your brother?  The Bible defines love as: suffering long, kind, not envious, not puffed up, not behaving unseemly (does that mean yelling in the car and pointing my finger crazily at my 3 year old?), is not easily provoked (ouch), is not self seeking (another ouch), rejoices in truth, bears all things...and the list goes on in 1 Corinthians 13.

I was so convicted during this devotion, I mean it was as if God watched everything I did yesterday! Ha!

I told my kids that I loved them several times yesterday.  I even hugged them several times.  But "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth". 1 John 3:18

When I was a kid I memorized that exact verse as a song and I can still hear the song in my head even now.  I do love my kids and I do cook for them and clean for them and wash their clothes and home school them.

But am I KIND to them?  Do they easily provoke me?  Am I patient with them?  Do I behave in such a way in front of them that it is showing them the love of God?

This is hard stuff.  Parenting is hard and it is ever changing with different seasons of life, different ages and different personalities developing.  But God's Word NEVER changes.  He is the same yesterday, today and forever.  I am so thankful for God's forgiveness when I mess up and fall short.  I am thankful for God's grace that will fill in the gaps!

I'm not telling you anything new, "For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another." 1 John 3:11

My Reflections after watching Mom's Night Out

I just went to see the movie Mom's Night Out with some friends.  It was perfect timing because I desperately needed it!  When life gets so busy the first things to go are time for yourself, and dates with your spouse.

My husband is a Pastor of a church we planted a few years ago and recently he's been working a second job as well.  He is also helping coach one of our son's baseball teams and he is head coach of our other 2 son's tee-ball team.  This means that I have picked up a lot of extra duties that he used to be able to help with occasionally.  Our parents live states away, so we don't have that nice free help from loving Grandparents.  But, we are living and doing what God has called us to do and He always provides what we need in every situation.

In this situation, He provided a Mom's Night Out movie with friends!  You see, the day before I was about to go insane...or at least that's what it felt like.  Between cooking separate meals for me and the kids because of food allergies, potty training with 1 bathroom, having 1 kid flush the poopy undies almost down the 1 toilet we have while trying to cook and eat and get stains out of baseball pants and find the baseball glove that always gets lost right before the game-BREATHE!  You know what I mean, right?!

This is just everyday crazy life with 3 boys ages 7, 5, and 3.  And did I mention that I try to home school a midst this chaos?  Only by God's grace do they know how to read and write!

And what about those church activities that we as Mom's find ourselves in charge of...teaching Sunday School, helping in the nursery..whatever it is you do as well.  All of this added up can make one feel quite overwhelmed.

So you see, I needed this Mom's Night Out thing.  I needed to get away from the laundry and never ending dishes and all the little messes saying, "Don't sit down until you clean me."

So, I actually took the time to straighten my hair and I went to the movies with some girlfriends.  The smell of popcorn greeted me.  We were the only ones in the theater for that movie!  In the first few scenes I could totally relate to that Mom and I was cracking up!  I realized that I am not alone in this parenting thing.  I know God is always with me in every situation, but sometimes it helps to know there are other people on earth going through what you are going through.

At the end of the movie Bones said it best.  You are enough.  God did not make a mistake in giving you the kids He gave you.  God designed you so intricately and gave you exactly the kind of kids He wanted you to have.  Stop being so hard on yourself.  Just be you.

As I was crying out to God this week asking for His help, He showed me this verse in a magazine and then in a devotional.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

God's answer to me was, "Just keep your mind on me and TRUST me and you will be ok, you will have peace in your chaos."

I'm not perfect, obviously, and I don't think anyone is...except a man named Jesus.  That's why He came to earth and died on a cross and paid our sin debt in full.  If you don't know Him personally today, just ask Him to save you.  Jesus is the only way to Heaven.

He gives grace and mercy.  I find that His mercies ARE new every morning!

Rest for Your Soul

The past few months the Lord has continually brought this Scripture before me,

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.  Matthew 11:28-30

Usually I am not the type of person to rest.  I want to go-go-go until everything on my to do list is marked off.  Rest is usually NEVER on my to do list.  I have 3 boys to home school and 5 mouths to feed 3 meals a day plus snacks and sports and church stuff and...and...and...the list goes on.

I can hear God laughing now!  All of those reasons are exactly WHY I need rest for my soul, and my body!  God was speaking to me clearly through His Word.  He was telling me to come to Him.  Nothing too hard, just come.  But I didn't for awhile.  I tried to juggle it all on my own. I stayed up late into the night finishing my tasks and then I was too tired to get up in the morning.  I knew this cycle had to end.  I felt like I couldn't make it through the day without my husband's help.  But all this time God was offering me HIS help and I was rejecting it.  How foolish I was.

More recently I have been saying, "Yes God I will come unto you".  I made it a point to do my devotion in the morning and seek the Lord.  I bought a new devotional called Resting in Him: I need to slow down, but I can't by Women of Faith.  I highly recommend it.

My days have gone so much smoother when I ask the Lord to help me and seek His guidance through prayer.  I feel more at peace and less frazzled.

Today I was doing this Bible study while laying in my hammock with the sunshine beaming down on me.  My boys were in the yard playing and I had a lot of things on my to do list I could have been doing inside...but.I.chose.Rest.  And I am so glad I did.  It was such a sweet and refreshing time.

The meditation was on Psalm 23.  This happened to be the same Scripture that my 7 year old chose to copy on his own for a craft he did today.  As I meditated on it something new stuck out to me.  Psalm 23 says that the Lord as our Shepherd "maketh me to lie down in green pastures".
I don't know about you but sometimes I have to be MADE to rest.  My husband has to tell me to sit down and not worry about the dirty dishes!  But this is for my own good!  I like the fact that God, as a Good Shepherd, makes His sheep rest because He knows we need it.  The Bible says we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. (Psalm 100:3)

Psalm 23 goes on to say that "He leadeth me beside the still waters, he restoreth my soul".  As I meditated on this verse I could really feel my soul being renewed and restored.  The opposite is true when I have spent a lot of time on the internet or watching tv or using technology...all of that drains me.  I pictured the Lord leading my thirsty soul to water, where I could drink and be refreshed.  Water is a representation of the Word of God.  His Word quenches us and fills us.  The Lord truly is a good Shepherd.

Psalm 23:3 says that He leadeth me in paths of righteousness for His names sake."  After I have been refreshed and well rested, then I can go on and live righteously to the Glory of the Lord!  We all know our bodies need sleep, food and water to operate.  So often we forget that our soul needs rest, the bread of life, and the water of the Word to operate.  Come to Jesus and find rest.  Put everything else on hold for a few minutes each day and make a date with Jesus to relax in His arms and hear from Him.  You will be so glad you did!

Awakening Love

Guest post from Stacy McDonald

Awakening Love with Essential Oils
WARNING: The intended audience for this post is married women. While I have attempted to present the topic of intimacy and essential oils with discretion, please enter at your own risk.
Do Not Awaken Love Before its Time…
I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
By the gazelles or by the does of the field,
Do not stir up nor awaken love
Until it pleases. (Song of Solomon 2:7)
…but once the time has come, stir things up with essential oils!
The Song of Solomon offers a poetic vignette of marital intimacy in all of its glory—in all of its purity, eagerness, and beauty…and in all of its passion! As young girls grow into women, God gifts them with tender emotions and powerful hormones, both of which support and promote God’s sovereign purpose of marriage and fertility within a loving covenant relationship.
Young women of all ages do well to heed the warning given to the daughters of Jerusalem not to stir love before it is lawfully able to be fulfilled, but what about after the celebration—after the consummation of marriage? What about pregnancy, and babies, and hormone fluctuations, and bills, and PMS, and stress…and what about menopause?
Prince Charming may have awakened his beloved, and they may have both enjoyed a full season of fervent, zealous intimacy together; but, what happens if Sleeping Beauty eventually falls asleep again? And this time a simple kiss isn’t doing the trick?
Try not to blush while I share with you a few ways essential oils might be used to rouse and stimulate the sleepy libido.
A Healthy Balance
“I just have no energy.” “I feel like I’m in a fog all the time.” “When I said I couldn’t wait to get to bed tonight, he thought I was flirting, but I meant to sleep!”
Does any of this sound familiar?
When a woman’s hormones are out of balance, it upsets the whole apple cart. She’ll often experience fatigue, vaginal dryness, low libido, fertility issues, hot flashes, insomnia, weight gain, hair loss, brain fog, irregular periods, and other symptoms.
These problems can put a damper on anyone’s love life, and obviously it can affect fertility for a number of reasons. If you’re experiencing one or more of these symptoms, please consider visiting an integrative doctor to have your progesterone checked, as well as your thyroid and cortisol levels, and to explore other ways your body may be out of balance.
Make sure that you’re getting plenty of sleep (this may mean a short nap during the day); eating nutritious, fresh, whole foods; and getting some sort of daily exercise. Also, check out the following essential oils and essential oil-infused supplements that have helped some women I interviewed balance their hormones and increase their energy levels:

Preparing a “Spicy” Bed with Essential Oils
“I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon…” (Proverbs 7:17)
You may not think the above verse is the best promo for an aromatic marriage bed; since, in this case, it references the actions of an adulteress. However, I included it because it does reveal the ancient custom of scenting the bed chamber as an enticing foretaste of sensual pleasure.
Just as lingerie may be used for good or for evil, so might the exotic scents and sensations of essential oils. And why shouldn’t the marriage bed be the most aromatically rich, exciting, and pleasing bed there is?
I arose to open for my beloved, and my hands dripped with myrrh, my fingers with liquid myrrh, on the handles of the lock. (Song of Solomon 5:5)
Aside from medical reasons, many times, both men and woman may lose their desire for intimacy due to exhaustion, stress, depression, or anxiety. So, choosing essential oils that will help a couple to relax, while simultaneously stimulating the emotions or hormones, may be the best choice for awakening healthy intimacy.
Most “sensually inspiring” essential oils work in part by initiating a warm sensation, stimulating the body and arousing passion with their rich, exotic aroma of spicy or floral notes.
Historically, the euphoric properties of oils like ylang ylang, myrrh, sandalwood, rose, and patchouli have been used to enhance intimacy aromatically and topically. Myrrh, which in my opinion smells best when blended with other oils, is mentioned seven times in the Song of Solomon! Is it any wonder that some believe Myrrh can be helpful for balancing hormones?
“His cheeks are like a bed of spices,
Banks of scented herbs.
His lips are lilies,
Dripping liquid myrrh.” – Song of Solomon 5:13
Get Ready!
Think ahead by preparing and planning for your evening. Start by cleaning your bedroom (I suggest essential oil-based Thieves Household Cleaner). Get rid of clutter (or at least move it elsewhere). Vacuum, dust, wash sheets and linens, and make sure the room feels fresh and clean.
Now prepare your sheets and linens by scenting them with something exotic. I suggest making the following pillow spray using sandalwood, patchouli, ylang ylang, or Sensation.
Exotic Pillow Spray
25 drops essential oils
1 oz. vodka
1 oz. purified water
2 oz. glass spray bottle
Remember to consider all five senses (sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell). Scatter unscented soy or beeswax candles around the room. Turn off electronic lighting, computers, phones, etc. Play soft classical music, creating a haven of peace.
Decide which massage oils you’re going to use and place them in pretty bottles on a decorative tray beside fresh flowers or herbs. You may also want to have on hand glasses for drinks, dark chocolate, fresh berries etc. Prepare any other massage tools you’ll want to use.
Just before beginning your evening, you may want to start with a warm, lightly scented bath. Add the same oils you used for your pillow spray to some Epsom salts before adding to bath water.
You may want to warm your massage oil in a small electric dip warmer ahead of time. Personally, I like to make sure my essential oils are never heated, so that they retain their therapeutic qualities. Because of that, if you want to heat your carrier oil, I suggest applying it to the skin separately from the essential oils.
Scent-sual Massage Oil
30 drops – Cedarwood
20 drops – Clary Sage
10 drops – Ylang Ylang
6 drops – Patchouli
1 drop – Myrrh or Frankincense
4 oz. sweet almond oil
Steamy After Bath Rub
30 drops – Neroli
10 drops – Sandalwood
5 drops – Juniper
4 drops – Ginger
4 ylang ylang
2 drops jasmine or lavender
4 oz. v6 or sweet almond oil
The Brain: The Most Important Part of Sexuality
As one mother shared with her soon-to-be-married daughter, “The marriage bed is like a playground; it is a place to have great fun together!” But, beyond fun, intimacy, and especially climax, causes the release of oxytocin, an important hormone in the brain—a hormone that is known to promote emotional bonding.
This fact, combined with the way essential oils effect the limbic system of the brain, the area that controls emotions and stores memories, makes the use of essential oils in intimacy a powerful and influential tool—a healing balm and even a protection to the marriage bed.
A bundle of myrrh is my beloved to me, that lies all night between my breasts. (Song of Solomon 1:13)
The Scent-sual Art of Touch and Massage
Combine the deep, intoxicating effects of essential oils with an evening of loving, sensual touch and massage to arouseintense desire between you and your husband! You will be amazed!
And remember, just like anything of value, practice makes perfect. Take the time to study and recognize his desires and prompts, and allow yourself to relax—to willingly respond and engage. Explore, feel, taste, smell, listen, watch, communicate, reveal, and enjoy!
Sandalwood, rose, neroli, and ylang ylang, as well as the Young Living blends, Present Time and Sensation are all excellent choices for massage and sensual exploration. Sandalwood’s mysterious musky aroma blends particularly well with the body’s own natural scent, making it perfect for a romantic evening. Young Living also offers a Sensation Massage Oil that is absolutely intoxicating!
Both sandalwood and rose* can be used intimately and applied directly to “sensitive” areas. Yes, really. However, because everyone is different, I would suggest having a carrier oil available (V6, olive oil, or coconut oil), just in case you or your husband find any of the oils a little too stimulating.
A woman I know recently told me that she discovered the blend Lady Sclereol helped with vaginal dryness, and its gentle warmth helped to stimulate libido when applied/massaged “directly!” Once again, while it can be used neat (undiluted), I still suggest that you have a carrier oil on hand “just in case.”
The brain often associates scents with memories; so, be ready to have flashbacks of the exotic evening you had with your beloved every time you smell sandalwood…and try not to blush in public!
As you grow older, remember that greying hair, a shifting body, and the changes that accompany menopause do not mean the end to an exciting and passionate marriage bed. In fact, all those moments of bonding, all those years of developing trust, growing together, sharing together, and “practicing” in the playground together, may mean the beginning to a whole new level of intimacy! So wake up, Sleeping Beauty! The fun has just begun!

Family Business Guest Post

This is a guest post from Stacy McDonald.

A Family Integrated Home Business

work family signs

Most families are separated during the work day, whether or not they want to be. Dad goes off to work. Maybe mom does too. If mom stays home with the children, there is often a harsh financial sacrifice.
But, what if your family could stay home together and work together on a family business? What if you could do it without some huge financial investment, without hours and hours of time and focus? What if mom could get it started by basically doing what she’s doing anyway (using and talking about her essential oils), and dad could help in the background if he wanted to – until her business exploded and he decided he could come home and be with the family all day, every day! Yeah. Really.
dreamstime_xs_29536991 home business faith family workIn 2010, when a friend sent me my first sample of oils, I discovered the huge difference between the essential oils I had been using and Young Living Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils. I was blown away by the difference.  I had always assumed all oils were basically the same; but, the amazing results we began to experience proved me wrong!
Young Living oils are so pure and so expertly grown and distilled…this is what made the difference! We used them for cuts, scrapes, bruises, cold sores, ear aches, dizziness, headaches, attention span, sleep, snoring, pain management, stress, wart removal, fungus, household mold issues, air cleansing, pregnancy, muscle cramps, PMS, blemishes, bug bites, and the list went on! My husband stopped calling them my “snake oils” and started asking me what oil would work for whatever his needs were! Ha!
But, beyond the health benefits, we discovered that God had more in store for us! He not only wanted us to use the oils for ourselves, He also expected us to share what we had discovered with others! And, in the process, we found that Young Living was an amazing source of additional income for us, as well as for our family and friends!

As I used my oils in everyday life, I started to get questions from others. Eventually, people wanted to know how they too could get started using essential oils. All I did was give them my member number, so that they could list me as the one who referred them (as their enroller). I quickly discovered just how generous Young Living’s referral program was! A Family Integrated Business
As a homeschooling mom and pastor’s wife, I was convinced that I didn’t have time to “sell” anything. So, I resisted the “business” aspect of Young Living for quite a while. I simply used my oils and wrote about them on my blog.
At first, I just earned enough to cover the cost of my oils, plus a little extra; but, as I became more deliberate with my sharing habits (offering samples, giving gifts, talking and writing about the oils etc.), it became clear that I was building a growing, thriving organization.
Networking Moms Unite!
And it only got better! Other homeschooling and stay-at-home moms—moms who absolutely loved their oils—started to contact me with questions about how to make Young Living a home business. Some of them had already “accidentally” earned paychecks. Others were interested more out of necessity—they needed more income in their households for various reasons (husband’s layoff, medical needs etc.).
Before I knew it, James and I had a strong, growing group of leaders in our organization who were in turn establishing their own strong leaders. And we continued to grow…like crazy!

Recently, our 23-year-old daughter established her own business in our organization, Therapeutically Yours. We found this was a wonderful way for her to earn an income from home—an income from a business she will be able to take into her future marriage. And all that she’s learned about essential oils will be invaluable to her in  her own family someday.
At the same time, we are able to help her build—we work on it together as a family. Even our youngest children like to share with others how much the oils help them!

Which brings me to another great reason to make Young Living your family business! The very business structure of Young Living is based on biblical principles. That isn’t to say that Young Living is a “Christian company,” or that it’s run by all Christians, but the business model itself requires that you help others. You cannot succeed in Young Living unless you help others to succeed. If you focus only on yourself, you will never get anywhere. It’s just the way it works.
Which also makes it ideal for helping your children to establish their own business—a business that is ultimately tied to your business, making it easy to invest in their success. It’s a win-win situation for everyone!
Five of our adult children have now established businesses in our organization. Some are thriving and others are just getting started, but they all have reachable goals; and we’re able to invest in their success in a way that also helps us to reach our own personal goals for the future too!

Nourishing Soup Recipe

This soup was awesome and healthy!  You have got to try it.  It comes from the book Making Babies by Shoshanna Easling.  I bought the book because it has great gluten free recipes in it.  You can buy it at
Here's the recipe:

Prep: 7 min.  Cook 20 min.  Serves: 2

1 chicken breast, cubed and pan fried (I was in a hurry and used canned chicken)

1/2 cup quinoa

1/2 onion, chopped, browned, and pureed (I had never pureed an onion before but it gave the soup good flavor)

1 garlic clove, minced

1 tsp parsley, dried

1 cup carrots, chopped

4 cups water

3/4 cup cabbage, chopped

2 1/2 tsp sea salt

In a 2 qt saucepan, add all ingredients.  Cook on med. low for 20 min., covered.  Turn off heat and let stand for five minutes.  Enjoy!
